Quickly updated and pushed Alpha 0.3 on to Google Play yesterday as a bug with one of the Databases was preventing it from starting for many people.

Alpha vs Beta, which will you choose? There are now two version of itoucan Talk on Google Play, Alpha and Beta. Beta continues as it was, and will be updated as the bugs are picked out of the Alpha. Alpha will have the latest code including the latest fixes and improvements, but it may not always work.

So now you have a choice, are you an Alpha or a Beta?

Heading to Google Campus this weekend for a hackathon, Dev4Good. Hoping to create something good to help with Autism and to promote Autism development to other developers.

There was feedback from the forum that the App starts completely blank. This is so that you can fill the app with the cards you want (by the way cards are included) or create cards of your own.

However a blank screen is not very helpful, so the app has now been updated so that on first starting a new dialogue box appears to help you create your first card.

Once a card has been created, the Pictographs can be renamed, moved, deleted or new ones added, to fully customise the app to your needs.

Today you’ll find on YouTube the video help which will be used within the next release version of iToucan Talk. work is in progress for the general help video and then the next version of the app will be released. The app is currently not available in the Play Store in anticipation of the next release.

Thanks for those who have commented… Although no one mentioned that the app got stuck in a loop of asking for downloads in Ice-Cream Sandwich (and Jellybean) and I only found out when my old Xoom updated!!

All that is fixed now, it’s a lot more stable and a lot more configurable.

At the Hack London event this weekend trying to develop an App iToucan Help.

It’s idea is to sort the almost 7,000 images in our database into useful categories, so that you, a user of iToucan Talk, can add pictures to new cards more easily!

iToucan Talk(Autism) is now available as a free download for Android phones and tablets!

It is a Beta version, so be nice with the comments. Post feedback to the forum about what you like and don’t like, what you want and don’t need and all these will be taken into account in later versions. If you don’t give feedback, you might not get the features you really want!!

The goal of My Autistic Apps is to provide phone Applications to help support people on the Autistic Spectrum and their families. Unlike many other Autism Resources My Autistic Apps want our Apps to remain free and useful.

So far, all development resources, time and costs have been given voluntarily, as and when it has been available.

iTucan is now looking pretty smooth on a phone, in fact probably better than on a tablet!
I’m currently working on the start page. This page, on first running the app, asks which language you wish to use. It then translates the category views. Language selection works, I am writing the code to store the translation.
The user defined views have disappeared! That’s the next bug to fix. I then have to ensure that the category pictographs can be edited and finally implement a way of downloading the pictograph files. Then it can be released for testing!
